What is RFID? The answer to the question is an identification system that detects objects individually and automatically using radio frequency. RFID basically consists of an RFID tag and an RFID reader. In the simplest sense, RFID can be programmed to receive, store and send object information.
Differences Between RFID and Barcode
Differences between RFID and Barcode, basically barcode is not a self-sufficient identification tool with its own system and needs human factor. RFID, on the other hand, can automatically perform the identification process without the need for human factor.
The barcode label can be easily damaged and difficult to read due to the fact that it is on a piece of paper, so it is flimsy. RFID is more robust and durable due to its construction material.
While the barcode scanner provides reading at close range, the RFID reader performs reading at a greater distance thanks to radio frequencies.
Barcode is a more suitable identification system due to the material used. However, although RFID is a more expensive identification system, its lifetime is longer and more practical.
While RFID identifies more than one object at a time within seconds, we can say that it is a system that needs to identify more slowly for Barcode.
